Hello Bookish Lovelies! Can you believe its August already? Hope you’ve been sipping delicious cold beverages, drinking in beautiful summerscapes, and gulping down new releases hot of the press! Or soaking up old favorite reads in the cool shade! (This is making me so thirsty!)
This year, I thought I’d try something new. I have a bunch of advanced reader copies (ARCs)
quietly judging me, and there’s a reading challenge I’ve been meaning to take on for a while–ARC August! So hold on to your reading gear, and let’s dive into a stack of stories and another fun summer reading challenge!
ARC August is an annual, month-long reading challenge, hosted by Octavia and Shelly from ReadSleepRepeat.org, any and all readers can participate in as long as they have an ARC. From August 1st to August 31st, participants can read any ARCs they want–no matter what year they publish or what format they’re in. And as many or few as they want.
Sounds like an excellent way to encourage you to read any ARCs that may be piling up and threatening to topple over you.
Which may or may not be heard over an impossible distance, suddenly and inexplicably awakening an ancient bookdragon and summoning it to your book fort to capture your precious dragon hoard of lit. <_< I’m okay.
Need more incentives? Thanks to Octavia and Shelly you can participate in ARC August challenges: a cover challenge, a book bingo, a bookish word search, and a bookish crossword puzzle! I AM ECSTATIC ABOUT THIS; I LOVE GAMES AND PUZZLES! (Oops, I guess I got a little excited. Sorry about that. ^_^’) You can find all of those here.
To participate all you need to do is sign up here. Come on…you know you want to. ^_~
Here’s what I’m hoping to read:
After the Flood by Kassandra Montag
The Binding by Bridget Collins
Grace in the Wings by Kari Bovée
The Guest Book by Sarah Blake
Nottingham by Nathan Makaryk
The Swallows by Lisa Lutz
This is definitely ambitious and will very likely take on a life of its own throughout the month. But it’s a good starter TBR. Also, I’ll try to share updates when I can, so you can track my progress and offer encouragement, which I’ll absolutely need. ^_^
If you’re interested, you can register here anytime during the month. If you can’t read along this time around, you can always offer encouragement and keep up with everything and everyone by following on Twitter and Instagram: #ARCAugust.
Okay, Bookish Lovelies, I think that’s all for now. So, are you joining us for ARC August?
