Greetings bookish dragonflies! Hope your summer reading has cooler than mine (*raspy voice* it’s sooo hot!) and your reading is refreshing and sunny (or, at least, air conditioned). Summer is an excellent time for beach reads and diving into all sorts of summertime fun. Like one of my favorite summer reading challenges! That’s right, it’s time for the 24 in 48 Hour Readathon! So grab your lemonades and umbrella drinks, and let’s swim in a sea of stories!
The Challenge
The 24 in 48 Hour Readathon is a reading challenge, hosted by Rachel from 24in28.com and two new cohosts, involving 24 hours of reading that extends over 48 hours. And a great way to fit a bookish retreat into your weekend without the reducing you to a sleep-deprived puddle of bookish essence. (If you’ve ever attempted other 24-hour readathons, you know what I mean.) This summer’s version runs from July 20th to July 21st–-from 12:01 Saturday to 11:59 EST Sunday.
Need another incentive? Well, you could win bookish prizes! You could take your chances by signing up (door prizes, woo!), participating in mini challenges, or reading all 24 hours. Also, you can chat with fellow readathoners and other book dragonflies. ^_^ And all you need to do is sign up here. Come on…you know you want to.
No need to read the whole 24 hours like a bookish Olympian. Read as long as you’d like and have fun. Set any you want goal. You could choose a specific number of books, (short stories, graphic novels, or anything) or pages or hours. And then try to accomplish it. It’s all up to you.
My TBR
Here’s what I’m attempting to read:
The Grace Year by Kim Liggett
The Fountains of Silence by Ruta Sepetys
Slay by Brittney Morris
Pieces of Her by Karin Slaughter
The Burning Chambers by Kate Mosse
There’s a good chance this list could change throughout the weekend, but it’s a good place to start. I may read a few short stories, webcomics (I’m so behind on these…and I’m open for suggestions), or audiobooks to keep awake or prevent eyestrain.
I’ll try to update this post, my Goodreads bookshelf (24in48-readathon-january-2017), Litsy posts, and tweets all the weekend, so you can follow my progress. And offer encouragement, which will be most needed. ^_^
Readathoners can still register here. If you can’t read along…*gasp* ^_~, you can always cheer readers on and keep up with everything and everyone by following on Facebook and Twitter: @24in48readathon and #24in28. And on Instagram and Litsy: @24in48.
I think that’s all for now. So, will you be joining us?
Thank you for stopping by! Click here, if you’d like to read my last post–a cover reveal for Cloak of Night by Evelyn Skye. If you enjoyed this post, please do not hesitate to like this post, comment below, and subscribe to see similar content.
Now, on your mark, get set,…READ! ^_^
