Morning, morning bookish lovelies! Hope your summer reading has been excellent and your reading game is going strong. And speaking of games…one of my favorite reading challenges has returned! It’s time for the 24 in 48 Hour Readathon! A nice cool way to dog ear it through our dog days. Pun intended. (I know, I know–I just couldn’t help myself.)
Anyway…the what now? The 24 in 48 Hour Readathon. It’s a reading challenge, hosted by Rachel from 24in28.com and two new cohosts, involving 24 hours of reading that extends over 48 hours. And a great way to fit a bookish retreat into your weekend minus the turning you into a bookish drone. (If you’ve ever tried other 24-hour readathons, you know what I’m talking about.) This summer’s version runs from July 22nd to July 23rd–-from 12:01 Saturday to 11:59 EST Sunday.
Bonus: you could win bookish prizes! Well, you could take your chances by signing up (door prizes, woo!), participating in mini challenges, or reading all 24 hours. Plus, you get to chat with fellow readathoners and other Wyveraries (the progeny of wyverns + libraries a la Catherynne Valente…excellent companion for book dragons, no? ^_^). And all you need to do is sign up here. Come on…you know you want to.
Not ready to engage of 24 hours bookish athleticism. No probs. Read as long as you’d like to. Set a goal. It could be for the number of books, (short stories, graphic novels, or anything) or pages or hours you’d like to read. And then work to accomplish it. It’s really up to you.
And now…my TBR. Here’s what I hope to read:
League of American Traitors by Matthew Landis
Tiger Lily by Jodi Lynn Anderson
Alex and Eliza: A Love Story by Melissa de la Cruz
Beasts Made of Night by Tochi Onyebuchi
Serafina and the Splintered Heart by Robert Beatty
This list might take on a life of its own during the weekend, but it’s a good starting point. I might read some short stories, webcomics, or audiobooks to stave off boredom or relieve eyestrain. (Which has been happening to me quite a bit. Reading slump…I will vanquish you!)
I’ll try to update this post, my Goodreads bookshelf (24in48-readathon-january-2017), Litsy posts, and tweets throughout the weekend, so you can follow my progress. And offer encouragement, because I’ll need it. ^_^
Readathoners can still register here. If you can’t read along (because life happens), you can always cheer readers on and keep up with all the happenings by following on Facebook and Twitter: @24in48readathon and #24in28. And on Instagram and Litsy: @24in48.
On your mark, get set,…READ!
