Thats right. Dewey’s 24-Hour Readathon is back again!
Hosted by Heather and Andi of The Estella Society, Dewey’s 24-Hour Readathon happens twice a year, in April and October. This Saturday, April 29, the fun returns.
For 24 hours, I’ll join readers from across the book community and read a select number of book from monstrous TBR list, post updates on my progress, and take on mini challenges throughout this event. So I can connect with the people that make reading books fun…and possibly win some awesome bookish prizes! You can find out more about how to participate in this readathon here.
But this year’s readathon promises to focus more than just reading. We’re also looking at giving back. The hosts of Dewey’s 24-Hour Readathon have set a goal of raising $1,000 for Room to Read, a non-profit organization focusing on literacy and girls’ education across Africa and Asia. So, help out if you can.
This is what my reading list looks like as of now:
A Natural History of Dragons (The Memoirs of Lady Trent, #1) by Marie Brennan
Ethan Frome by Edith Wharton
Every Heart a Doorway (Wayward Children, #1) by Seanan McGuire
First Command (Tides, #0.5) by Alex Lidell
Flame in the Mist (Flame in the Mist, #1) by Renee Ahdieh
Silk & Service: A Kunoichi Companion Tale (Seasons of the Sword, #0.2) by David Kudler
Ghost: A Dream of Murder (Seasons of the Sword, #0.7) by David Kudler
Phoebe and the Unicorn (Heavenly Nostrils, #1) by Dana Simpson
Unicorn on a Roll (Heavenly Nostrils, #2) by Dana Simpson
Unicorn vs. Goblins (Heavenly Nostrils, #3) by Dana Simpson
Razzle Dazzle Unicorn (Heavenly Nostrils, #4) by Dana Simpson
Unicorn Crossing (Heavenly Nostrils, #5) by Dana Simpson
I’m hoping to approach this readathon a little differently. This time I’m not just going for variety. I’ve included shorter reading material than in the past in an effort to reduce my TBR a bit…before I add more books to it. (I know…I have a problem. -_-) As before, I’ve included more books than I intend to finish. It’s always best to have more than I need than less, right? Right?
Anyway, my plan is to break regularly. During one such break, I intend to join the Book Bloggers Twitter Chat (or #BBTC) at 8 pm EST hosted by @BBookRambles. This chat will host Flame in the Mist by Renee Ahdieh! Yay!!!
I have some snacks ready and a sketchy meal plan. Okay, I’m largely unprepared when it comes to food. (I’ll pay for that…I just know it. Grrr.)
I’m primarily participating as a reader, and you can too. The sign-up is here. You can also motivate readers, volunteer to help out in other ways , donate to Room to Read (or your chosen charity), or just follow along via social media (for Twitter, that’s #Readathon). How and how much you get involved is up to you. Whatever you do, you’re sure to have a great time!
Have Fun and Happy Reading! ^_^
